Giuseppe Versini Award 2011

Since 2005, the SIVE has set itself the goal of “Supporting greater collaboration between production companies and the world of wine and viticulture research,” helping the production world in formulating demand and the research world in defining its supply of knowledge useful for production.

To this end, in addition to devoting ample space to Italian research within Enoforum and its other activities, the SIVE Board of Directors has established the SIVE Research for Development Award, intended for those researchers who, in addition to carrying out work of high scientific value, direct their research on important and strategic themes for modern viticulture and give particular importance to the application and practical aspects, as well as to the dissemination of their results to producers.

The announcement of the 2011 SIVE Prize, now in its 3rd year, coincided this year with the sad news of the passing of Dr. Giuseppe Versini, a world-renowned Italian researcher and a firm believer in the need to nurture dialogue and collaboration between research and production.

Given the perfect fit between Dr. Versini’s professional activities and the spirit of the award, the Board decided to dedicate the Award to his memory.

Versini will also be remembered with a summary of the results of the research he produced during his many years of activity at the San Michele all’Adige Institute, entrusted to his colleague and friend Giorgio Nicolini, and which will kick off the oral presentations of the papers nominated for the Prize.

Unlike other awards, the evaluation of nominated papers for the SIVE Award is carried out jointly by researchers and technicians:

  • By the SIVE Scientific Committee, who selected the 25 candidate papers included in the Enoforum program on the basis of the degree of innovation and then will evaluate their scientific value; currently the SIVE CS is composed of 30 members: Prof. Luigi Bavaresco – CRA – VIT Conegliano, Prof. Mario Bertuccioli – University of Florence, Prof. Vasco Boatto – University of Padua, Dr. Daniela Borsa – CRA – ENO Asti, Prof. Maurizio Boselli – University of Verona, Dr. Antonella Bosso – CRA – ENO of Asti, Prof. Emilio Celotti – University of Udine, Prof. Rocco Di Stefano – University of Palermo, Prof. G.
