Verona, Italy 2025
First Veronese edition of Enoforum: a success is reconfirmed
New city and new venue for the 2025 edition of Enoforum, held May 21-23, but the same great interest from the public, made up of oenologists, agronomists, company technicians, producers, students and researchers.
1300 attendees registered inside the premises of Veronafiere’s Congress Center, with the two active halls (one national and one international with simultaneous translations) often packed with people, a sign of the great interest in research in the field of viticulture.
The program was structured over 3 days full of lectures by Italian and International researchers, with the help of R&D managers from major partner companies in the field.
A room dedicated to tastings featured 14 sessions with experimental wines, born from the study of company R&D departments, often joined by Italian universities and oenology institutes.
The day of May 23 was dedicated to sparkling wines and the most innovative production techniques concerning bubbles.
This year, there are also two important new additions to the event: the GreenWINE international scientific conference, organized with the University of Verona on the two days preceding Enoforum, and the event “I vini della conoscenza” (Wines of Knowledge), a tasting dedicated to journalists and communicators, focusing on technology as a vehicle for sustainability and healthiness in wines. Enoforum has confirmed its status as a key meeting place for the wine and viticulture world, offering networking opportunities that would otherwise be impossible.
Enoforum turns 25 this year -recalls Gianni Trioli, CEO of VINIDEA, the company that organizes the event- which has seen a continuous increase in the number of participants and in the quantity and quality of content. The reason for the success of Enoforum, in Italy and abroad, lies in knowing how to meet, get to know each other and cooperate with the three categories of players who together create innovation: researchers, who study and understand natural phenomena; supplier companies, who make new technical means to improve the quality and sustainability of wine; and pioneer technicians, who validate the new technique in a variety of production situations, making it usable by the entire wine sector.
Enoforum reconfirms itself as Europe’s largest and most important wine conference, with impressive numbers:
• 155 lectures on the latest innovations for the vineyard and winery, presented by:
• 101 independent speakers, from universities or public research centers
• 36 foreign speakers, from 10 wine-growing countries of the world
• 10 research projects: regional, national and European
• 36 posters on new technologies and knowledge
• 50 companies presenting innovations resulting from their R&D activities
• 14 tasting sessions, to understand the sensory effects of innovations
• 40 exhibitors, including booths and desks, for in-depth information with experts from the companies
However, those who may have missed some of the presentations need not worry: all recordings of the talks will be progressively available on the internet magazine Infowine.com, with priority access to Premium subscribers.
Enoforum 2025 was supported by the OIV – The International Organization of Vine and Wine, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, the Veneto Region, and the Province and Municipality of Verona.
The scientific part was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Verona, leader of the Spoke7 of the iNEST consortium, part of the New Generation EU program.
The event saw the collaboration of Unione Italiana Vini-Simei, Assoenologi, which awarded a Prize for the best Italian research (presented during the 78th National Congress in Agrigento), ONAV – Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori Vino, the National Order of Agronomists and Foresters, and the National College of Agrotechnicians and Graduate Agrotechnicians.
