Dr. Giulia Sofia holds Ph.D. in Water Resources, Soil Conservation, and Watershed Management. Her research expertise lies in remote sensing and digital landscape analysis, as well as water management from multiple perspectives.
Dr. Sofia has a strong background in weather data analysis, agricultural land-use studies, and water resource management, integrating these areas into her research on water managemet. Her innovative contributions to understanding geomorphic processes, land-use history, and human impact on the environment earned her the prestigious 2019 Arne Richter Award for Outstanding Early Career Scientists, recognizing her advancements in high-resolution terrain analysis and quantitative assessments of human-driven landscape changes.

Today, Dr. Sofia continues her work at the Ce.Sp.I.I. Irrigation Research Center, where she studies the effects of climate change on water resources, assessing shifts in hydrological patterns, drought risk, and water availability for agriculture. The center integrates cutting-edge digital analysis with hydrological modeling to develop sustainable water-use strategies to help mitigate the challenges posed by climate variability and increasing human demands on freshwater systems.
