Black to the future project – biochar and compost as soil improvers

Rosa PRATI, Caviro S.c.a.

Black To the Future is a European project (ID: 21217) funded by EIT FOOD. Black to the Future aims to reduce desertification, improve soils and increase carbon sequestration and yield quality through an advanced blend of biochar and compost, called CBmix™, obtained from agricultural residues in a circular economy network where farmers are feedstock producers and end-users of the product.

CB mix™ is a product that complies with the new fertilizer directive, designed to improve soil properties, especially drought resistance, nutrient retention and therefore beneficial for yield quality and quantity. CBmix™ has been tested on important target crops such as vineyards, olive and pomegranate trees in areas at risk of desertification.
