The event was held April 21-23, 2009, for the third consecutive edition at Piacenza Expo, the Piacenza fairgrounds.

Wine professionals, and in particular technicians, were the protagonists of the event, coming from all regions of Italy including the south and the islands: the best oenologists and agronomists of the peninsula attended, for one or more days, the work of the conference and took advantage of the many opportunities for updating and contact with some of the most qualified researchers from Italy and around the world.

More than 60 oral presentations, 16 of which were given by internationally renowned foreign speakers, were given in the two conference halls, which were almost always at capacity despite the fact that they were often running concurrently. There were 76 posters on display throughout the conference, 15 of which were the subject of oral presentations.
